Simultaneous determination of carbofuran and 3-hydroxycarbofuran in duck liver by an UPLC-MS/MS

Abstract Carbofuran is a carbamate pesticide, broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, low-residue, and highly toxic insecticide, acaricide, nematicide, widely used in agriculture. most harmful to birds, birds or insects killed by furan poisoning can be secondary after being foraged raptors, small mammals, reptiles. In this paper, an UPLC-MS/MS method was developed for the determination of carbofuran its metabolite, 3-hydroxycarbofuran, duck liver. Liver tissue first ground into homogenate then passed through ethyl acetate liquid-liquid extraction processing samples. Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode quantitative analysis, m / z 222.1 ? 165.1 carbofuran, 238.1 180.9 3-hydroxycarbofuran 290.2 198.2 internal standard. The standard curves liver were within range 2–2000 ng/g, where linearity good, lower limit quantification 2 ng/g. intra-day precision <14%, inter-day <13%, accuracy between 91.8 108.9%, average efficiency higher than 75.1% with matrix effect 93.4 107.7%. applied situation suspected at local farm.
